Nice neighborhood bar, food is good. And reasonable

Had lunch here with some friends who were here from out of town on a slow Monday lunch hour. The food was good but service was absolutely HORRIBLE. The older waitress who was also the bartender who had short blond hair was extremely rude and ignorant to us. She made us feel unwelcome and as if we were a bother to her for being there as we were trying to support this small business. She was rude from the beginning and did not check on us after food was delivered or to see if we needed drink refills. Unpleasant, rude and unprofessional to say the least. It was very disappointing as we have heard very great things about this establishment. We eat out very often and rarely have an unpleasant service experience as most appreciate new business. The owner should definitely be aware of how their worker's actions affect their business reputation and referrals. This woman should not be dealing with the public.

Haven' been here in 25 years. Yes 25.Back then slices of pizza were a quarter. Can't remember the other daily specials.But the prices were fantastic, and we drove a ways to get them.Now updated with a nice deck and regular prices. No need to travel miles to get those deals...they are gone 🙁

Best fish sandwiches in town and excellent staff!

Wonderful dining experience. We arrived after 830pm and were still able to get medium rare prime rib. The food was delicious and the service was really good!

Ever since there recent management change Gil's has really changed for the better. Place used to be a dump but not anymore. Food is good and there pricing can't be beat for what all you get. Seafood Trio is awesome! Tuesdays is 50 cent hot dog night and they have other specials through out the week. Tons of parking to.

Casual, friendly, tavern style place with good food. Have been for lunch a few time now when in the area for work and always satisfied.

We come for the Santa Pictures and breakfast every year. The food is excellent and the people are so nice.

The waitstaff were super friendly and were very attentive to our table for refills, checking on the food, etc. Our food arrived in a bit, but not to long of a wait. Everything looked plated so well, the smells were amazing. We were not disappointed by the taste either, great food, nice portion sizes, great atmosphere, close it out with the dinner for 5 adults, 2 shared desserts, (no alcohol) was $65 tip included. Not bad in my opinion.

It is a bar /tavern atmosphere. The service was good as was the food. Good place to go and get a decent meal with a variety of choices.

Ok so. Waitress was great. I'm not from Allegheny county there was a rule you could not order alcohol without food...for covid apparently. I ordered the ribeye steak and broccoli was very subpar. Was a insta steak from Sam's club lol. Broccoli was completely mushy. Girlfriend had chicken Romano...also soso. On a good note she enjoyed the large glass of wine they gave her 🤣

Always a good meal to be had here. Food is well prepared, service is friendly and there are events throughout the week for bar-fun (non drinkers too!)Service is very good, however, if you have to wait an extra minute, don't be surprised or irate, the server(s) are usually taking on all tables as one person - so be patient!Good local spot.

Really nice little local cafe. Great neighborhood vibe. Food is very nice, large selection, excellent prices. They offer much more than your typical bar fare. I had some fried clams this time. Service is excellent as well. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

This place has gotten much better over the years. New menu, better quality food. Nice in summer, can sit out on the deck.

I ordered liver and it was green when i moved the onion it was sick and the potatoes were like water its a shame just cause your business is not open for business only take out check your food

Good local family owned place. Popular with South Park and Bethel Park families. Summertime dinner on the deck is something the whole family enjoys. I've been going there for over 30 years and never once been disappointed with my meal. The service staff is always wonderful and treat you like you're the next door neighbor. Gil's is a must try the next time you're in South Park.

Good food at a reasonable price. Maybe a new chef? Seems to have a different menu with more offerings. Try crushed candy cashew ice cream ball with chocolate or caramel sauce and whipped cream for dessert. Yum.

For 30 plus years now I have enjoyed my time at Gil's whether it was with friends having a beer, to having dinner, celebrating something special to a night for dinner after my Mother passed away and the burial. They have always been accommodating to me, my family and friends. A great local place to eat, drink, entertain and relax!

I go here often and always have had a great experience. There is nothing on the menu that you won't love. The service is always fast and friendly. If I picked a favorite restaurant my husband and I would definitely pick Gil's Cafe. Very highly recommend!!!

This was a first time for us at the restaurant. It is very nice inside. Well taken care of and clean. The food and the service were both very good. They have a beautiful deck outside but we ate inside since it was so humid outside that day.

A great place that is right outside South Park. Great atmosphere, and a covered outside deck. Great food, lots of variety. The Cuban hot dog is really good!

We had a party of 13 people after an evening of bowling. Serve staff was quick and attentive. Food was served promptly. Burgers were cooked as requested and were delicious. All meals were delicious. Will definitely be back.

Wow! I was pleasantly surprised by how awesome this place is. The menu was great & the food was fantastic! I loved everything about my meal especially the homemade bleu cheese dressing. I also LOVED our waitress! She was the sweetest lady & really made our first visit welcoming. I will definitely be back here!

The food was awesome, I suggest that you go on Fridays or any day of the week they have daily specials there is a lovely young lady working the bar that I could listen to her sing while u eat their lunch or dinner, just such a perfect atmosphere and good food
